Statement on Fifth Anniversary of the Downing of Flight PS 752

Five years have passed since the death of 176 people after the downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane by a surface-to-air missile of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. The victims were of different nationalities, citizens of Canada, Sweden and Ukraine, but also many Canadian-Iranians.

For five years, The Islamic Republic has refused to take full legal responsibility for the downing, despite admitting that its military shot Flight PS752 out of sky.

Apart from the initial stage-setting and masquerade of the Islamic Republic, which, as always, tried to lie, not only the real perpetrators and masters of this crime have not been punished, but have not even been identified. A crime that, after five years, is still fresh in the hearts of the Iranians and citizens of other nations concerned.

It is clear to everyone that the main perpetrators and masters of this horrendous crime and other sinister events of the dark period of the Islamic Republic’s rule are the leaders and main stage managers of this government. Khamenei, the regime’s leadership apparatus, the criminal commanders of the Revolutionary Guards, the judiciary and the numerous intelligence agencies

of the regime have held Iran hostage for decades. The lives and fates of millions of Iranians, the thousands of years of civilization, the ancient culture of Iran, and the country’s national assets have become their pawns and are being used to achieve their personal interests and sinister religiously inspired expansionist ambitions. The anti-national goals and inhuman policies of this regime have repeatedly pushed the country to the brink of full-scale war over the past five years. If this regime continues to exist, it will ultimately turn our country into a scorched land with a failed government as a result of unjustified and destructive wars.

The Hamgami coalition, while expressing their sympathy to the families of the victims of Flight PS 752, demands justice and accountability for the 176 innocent victims and their families.

This can be achieved by identification, trial and punishment of the persons responsible for this crime in national and international courts. As a final goal, we strive to help change the current outlaw regime of the Islamic Republic and replace it with a secular democratic republic.
